Book Review: I Am Number Four

I Am Number Four

Nine aliens and their guardians are hiding on Earth … protected by a charm that means they can only be killed in numeric order. Three are already dead. John Smith is Number Four.
John has to keep moving: he’s got to outrun his past; escape his mortal enemies the Mogadorians, and blend into normal student life. But above all he must pray his newly found powers – alien legacies from home Planet Lorien – don’t give him away before he can complete his destiny, unlock his powers and protect his future.

In the beginning we were nine.

We left when we were very young, almost too young to remember. Almost. And now . . .

Three are gone.

We are here to keep our race alive, which was almost entirely obliterated. We’re just trying to survive.

Six are left.

But we are hunted, and the hunters won’t stop until they’ve killed us all.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.

Number Two in England.

And Number Three in Kenya.

I am Number Four.
I know that I am next.

My Insights:

If you love mystery, thriller and a bit of romance this is the right book for you. The story never gets boring, It was written very smoothly and it only gets better and better every time you turn the page.

The slightest thing that disappoints me was how the love story of John and Sarah ends but even though it ends like that, I was proud of Pittacus Lore of how he let his audience see the very good reason why it has to be like that.

All in all its a good book and a recommended one.

Book Review: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

" Twilight "

Isabella Marie "Bella" Swan came from Phoenix and went her way to her dad in Forks, Washington. She's quiet bored in Forks since she likes sunlight however Forks has an oceanic climate with very high rainfall. Her feelings change when she met Edward Cullen and his mysterious family which she later on discovered of being vampires. However those discoveries doesn't change her feelings for Edward and she also wishes to become vampire herself and that wish is againts the will of Edward.

My Insights:

Have you ever felt that you can't stop reading unless you finish the whole book from cover to cover? I guess Time got it right, "Meyer has, like one of her vampires, turned into something rare and more than merely human... People do not want to just read Meyer's books; They want to climb inside them and live there."

Well, this was what I felt when I first read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer but I have to say there's a downfall in the story for some who's not quiet fanatic of reading, the first chapter of the book was not that really catchy but as the story goes by you'll surely love it.

This book really fascinates me and it’s a good read since you don’t have to check your dictionaries all over again just to know the meaning of the words that were use by the author, since Stephenie Meyer chose the appropriate words for her readers. Right words for the Right age.

Excerpts:

"Twilight again, another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has to end."
-Edward Cullen

This is one of my favorite quotable line in the story.

About the Author:

Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona. After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005" (Publishers Weekly).
